The f/508 Photography Place, a mix of classrooms, photographic studio and conceptual store, located in Brasília, Brazil’s capital, will promote in
august the first f/508 Week of Photography – I Love Film. From august 19, when the worldwide photography’s day is celebrated, to august 29, f/508’s
head office will become a vast place of sharing and learning, were workshops, lectures, exhibitions and projections will take place among other
activities. The event’s first edition will pay tribute to Czech photographer Miroslav Tichy, who captures images in a instinctive way, with cameras made
out of scrap.
Three exhibitions will open the f/508 Week of Photography: “Pinhole photography”, “Historical Photographic Processes” and “Aesthetics of Chance”. The schedule of the whole week will be focused on analog photography, promoting, by means of planed activities, a reflection about the role this style of photography occupies after the rapid growth of digital photography.
Between august 20 and 29, participants will be assured to, by means of workshops, practice historical analog processes such as daguerreotype, cianotype, vandyke, albumen prints, saltprints and pinhole.
Winding up the week, the 6th edition of project Lambe-Lambe will take place. Thought up by f/508, its objective is to open a space of reflection about photography in Brasília. The photographic projections are used as basis to spread local, national and latin american productions.
F/508 intends, with the f/508 Week of Photography, to fulfill the gaps that exists up until now in its city by creating an event that aggregates ideas, produced by photographers for photographers and everyone else interested in photographic art.
