I was born in 1990,in iran, studied math at highschool, and now i’m studying urban design in University of Tehran.
I started photography in 2005, at first it was just a hobby, then it came more important to me , I found photography as a media that I can express my inner side with, the side that I could never talk about and, photography took my hand, I love self portrait photography, because it’s like a knife, with which I explore myself…

Great site. A lot of useful information here. I’m sending it to some friends!
As an artist myself who has done many portraits I would suggest that you simply paint yourself, the best than you can, without trying to convey who you are or what you’re all about in the portrait. Just free yourself of all the stress and pre-conceived notions, clear your mind and instinctively do the portrait.
All the great artists started their work by gazing at the mirrors and create their self portrait whether for the purpose of showing their physical features, show their emotions or would just simply promote their skills to the public. Whatever reasons, self portrait is a way of exploring oneself, a discovery of how an artist looks at himself. It is a way of expressing the deepest emotion of an artist.
You can create an especially revealing self-portrait by adding personal memorabilia surrounding your mirrored image, such as photos of yourself at various stages of your life, or anything that tells the viewer about your interests. Besides a mirror, a window can sometimes offer a reflective surface for you to capture your own image.
Hi!
Since you love making self-portraits, I would like to invite you to join the project Follow the Red Line, where we aim to connect photographers worldwide with a photo series of self-portraits containing a red line. We would like to have 2012 contributions in 2012 from at least 100 countries, so we need all the help we can get to reach our goal. Will you join in?
More info on http://www.redlineportraits.com!
And please tell all photographers you know.
Thanks, Petra
