“Les nuages, là-bas, les merveilleux nuages” is currently on display in France, at Malraux du Havre Museum. The exhibition will feature 160 amazing photos of 83 artists and is open from Friday October 9, 2009 to Sunday January 24, 2010. It reflects on the future of the photographic iconography of clouds, from the middle of the XIXth century to our day.
The first part of the exhibition examines the way this theme was treated by the photography in the XIXth century. Trying to capture various effects and values, the photographers invented all sorts of tricks: overexposed sky, the object of photos taken separately, etc. The second part underlines the contemporary extensions of the conquests made by the photographers of the XIXth century. They tried to get as close as possible to clouds.
