• Wolf Kettler

Wolf Kettler is a photographer specialising in bespoke portraiture for private and business clients. He also undertakes selected editorial work.

Wolf applies the same principles to his personal and commissioned work, blurring the borders between art and commerce, and merging his activities into one “gesamt” performance.
Based in Wiltshire, rural yet close to Bath, Bristol and Oxford and only an hour by train from London, Wolf is available for commissions throughout Britain and internationally.

    WHO IS WOLF?

Wolf Kettler was born, raised and educated in 1960s Europe. He has been a photographer most of his life, though his professional career started out entirely differently. Wolf is an autodidact. His photographs have been published and exhibited internationally.

Wolf is an advocate of animals rights, vegetarian and supporter of environmental issues. He loves cats, books, classical music and jazz.

    ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Nulla si sa, tutto s’immagina (secondo Fellini) – nothing is certain, everything is imagined (after Fellini). I have always liked this statement because photography is a speculative interpretation of life. It questions the perception of reality.

In my work, I want to examine the relationship between photography and reality and to stimulate the viewers to project their own interpretation, thus becoming an integral part of the creative process.

    APPROACH

Wolf rejects the type of photography, which runs off a template and creates glossy views of life and glamorised faces retouched beyond recognition. In his photographs of people,
he aims to deconstruct glamour by exposing people’s natural beauty that comes from within (only imperfection is beautiful). He believes that everybody is beautiful, it only depends on how you look at them.

Wolf Kettler plans every photo session individually because no two clients are the same. He arrives at his finished photographs without heavy makeup and digital makeovers.

Another concept, which informs his photography, is that of emotion and association: What he feels when he looks at a subject, how he communicates this experience through his photographs and how this affects and is interpreted by the viewer.

Kettler works from his studio in Bromham and on location.
